Artist Statement:

I began drawing as a child. It started with pencil sketches of women’s eyes in Vogue Magazine. I can’t fathom why I started --- I suppose we all have our paths and mine was to be an artist.

I took a “detour” meaning I studied history at UCLA and went on to law school in San Francisco – I never practiced law. In the late 1990s I fully recognized my passion for oil painting. I studied art at Sonoma State and SRJC in Santa Rosa, CA. More recently, I studied at the San Francisco Art Institute in San Francisco, CA and worked privately with two art professors.

I flew to New York City twice in the late 90’s to hit the museums each day and view paintings by Kandinsky, Kline, Van Gogh , Motherwell and others.  The impressions these artists made on my psyche were profound: I executed two series of paintings: The Black Line Abstracts and The New York Green Abstracts - which you can view under the  Abstracts tab.

I continue to emphasize a dramatic use of color (which expresses my joy) in all of my paintings. I hope you fall in love with them.
